How can water be of such importance when dieting? Well, in the researching that I have done I learned
quite a bit about water and how important it is in the functioning of our bodies. It is the most important key to losing weight
and keeping it off. Studies show that if you increase your water intake, you can reduce fat deposits. Water helps the body
metabolize stored fat. You see the kidneys cannot function properly without enough water. When this happens the liver
takes over which causes it not to operate as it should because it is too busy working for the kidneys. One of the liver's
functions is to metabolize stored fat into energy. So, while the liver is trying to do the kidney's job, more fat remains
stored in the body. Another important factor in water intake and losing weight is that water suppresses the appetite.
You should drink eight to ten glasses (about three quarts) a day. One quart in the morning, one at noon and one around five
pm. You don't have to drink it all down at once, but you should consume each quart within a thirty minute period. By drinking
the water in these times frames, and trying to do so before meals, your appetite will decrease. You may be one that retains
fluids and think that if you drink more, you'll store more. Not true. If the body gets less water, it thinks there is
a threat in survival and stores it in extracellular spaces. Therefore the best way to release stored water is to give your
body what it's asking for, more water. While researching and writing this article, I can honestly say I never thought
about the importance in my water intake. I know now, and I hope that I have enlighten you, in it's importance. Remember
that while drinking plenty of water you will gain energy because the liver is free to turn that fat into fuel for your body!
